// Digital line art tip…//

‘How do you do your line art?’ is the question I get most often,

Well, since 90% of my art is done digital, start to finish, I use a tablet. An Intuos 4 to be specific.

I use Easy Paint Tool Sai as my program. I don’t touch the settings—everything is standard with the exception of the ‘stabilizer’ which I leave on 12. I use the brush tool—simple circle.

Now here’s where things may get different because I’ve also had people tell me “I use the exact same settings and my lines are still wiggly”. I wear a fingerless glove on my drawing hand. The kind you can get for .99 at any Wal*Mart.

The glove keeps the side of my hand from dragging—which it does even if I’m not sweating. It allows for quick flicks and longer strokes.

Aside from that little tip, I’ll also add that the eraser is as important to my lines as anything else. Not ‘undo’, but the eraser. It allows me to trim lines into fine detail if I want and quickly.
